Volcanos Are Now Mining Bitcoin

Bitcoin & CryptoVolcanos Are Now Mining Bitcoin

El Salvador’s president Nayib Bukelle loves bitcoin. So much so, that he has resorted to harnessing the power of volcanos to mine bitcoin for the country.

A few hours ago, on Friday, October 1, Bukelle announced that he had just started to mine bitcoin using the geothermal energy from volcanos. So far, he has made $256, which is not much. But, it is a start.

It is very weird that volcanos are mining the currency. But, in the current climate, it makes sense. Miners are looking for any way they can to mine bitcoin, and if mountains of fire can help them do this, they are all too happy to take advantage.

Earlier today, Bukele tweeted the news:

The video above shows the volcano-powered mining operation. It looks like part of this massive plant is devoted to converting the geothermal energy into electricity, and the other part is made up of buildings housing powerful ASIC (application-specific integrated circuit) miners. Those ASIC computers are what actually does the mining. So, basically, at that plant, electricity is being generated from volcanic heat, and then that electricity is being used to power mining computers.

More information to come. Please check back later, as this story is still developing.
